Build compatibility confirmation

I have recently decided that my current machine has reached the end of its life as far as gaming goes and have decided to buy a new rig. I don't want to spend more than about 800$ and I don't need a monitor. I have this machine picked out along with this card and these sticks of ram.
Could you guys please confirm that these are 100% compatible and recommend a good power supply that will work with this cases form factor.
I will probably upgrade Vista to XP too, but I don't know if tigerdirect can do that before they ship it or what.
Thanks very much for the help.

Re: Build compatibility confirmation

I would hold off on that order, your paying $400 + 200+80=680 plus shipping. Plus you will need a good psu that going to cost at least 100 bucks. Plus emachines are noted for motherboard failure.

Have you considerd building your own? Have you searched here in building for what others are building and the cost?

The guys here are good at recomending parts, I would at least research a bit further before ordering

Re: Build compatibility confirmation

I would agree. You could at least start with a good barebones kit if you have never built before.

Re: Build compatibility confirmation

Thanks for the replies, but I would really just like to know if what I have chosen will work fine or not. I would just like to know if I have other looked something. I'm concerned to whether or not the ram will work ok really I am sure the video card will work fine although I may require a better psu.

Re: Build compatibility confirmation

It will all work.

For the video card, you may as well go with the 256MB version because benchmarks have proven that with the 8600GTS there is almost no performance gain with the extra 256MB of video memory. It is more of a marketing trick.

For the power supply, look at this:

Re: Build compatibility confirmation

The ram should work its the correct specs but emachine baords can be a bit picky.
The video card is also good.

Your main concern will be the psu and trust me the emachine psu will not be able to cope with the additional parts at least not very long.

You will have to upgrade the psu the problem here as you know is the form factor, the pinout of a standard atx psu will be the same. Trying to get a atx psu in that case maybe a problem and is hard to say without having the case in front of you, what you have to do is measure the dimmensions of the psu you plan on installing and see if it will fit the case. The dimmensions of a psu is readily available from its specs

Re: Build compatibility confirmation

Thanks very much I just wanted to make sure. I have actually heard that because the card is 128bit that the 512mb wouldn't matter before so I guess I might as well save the money.
For the PSU I guess I will look around a bit, but I know the least about power supplies so a little more info on how I could find a power supply that would fit into a micro-atx case would be appreciated.

Re: Build compatibility confirmation

With that type of case, you can usually fit a standard ATX power supply in it. The biggest issue will be the space between the optical drive and the front of the power supply.
