How long should it take to build a system??

Hi, I purchased a custom built PC from an online store that cost me $3,480 and have not yet recieved it. I ordered and payed for it on the 3rd of August and its now almost November, It takes me forever to contct them and they keep saying another 2 weeks but they have been saying that for about 3 months, Is there anything I can do to get a refund or any action that I can take to recover the money as they sated that once an order has been placed there are no refunds...Im pulling my hair out as im a student and that big money to me!
Please some advice??

You have got problem here it takes a couple of hours to build and install basic software.

Re: How long should it take to build a system??

Take the refund and build one yourself for $2.5k which'll probably be better. An air-cooled system should take less than 2 hours to put together at worst.

Re: How long should it take to build a system??

Well one of my workmates ordered a custom built system from Alien.
He paid 5 grands for the tower and it took 1.5 month to receive it........

It is not because it takes long to put it up or the delivery time is so long,
it is because their customer service SUCKS (I guess)

Although, their computers are good =)

It isn't a first system he ordered from them. He is saying it is a normal thing for them.
Not necessarily it is the same way from where you ordered it. I just wanted to share some information that I know. Maybe it will help.

Re: How long should it take to build a system??

I have an old school Alienware and when I order it I got it within 7 days of the placed order. However Alienware probably has much more customers now then when I ordered mine over 2 years ago.

3K is a ton of money for a computer. If I waited over 2 weeks for it I would be threatening to call the police or lawsuit.

Re: How long should it take to build a system??

I built my rig in a matter of three hours (included lugging the 15kg case up two flights of stairs), and at the shop where I work we usually have custom built computer orders done the day all the parts arrive (provided it is a business day and the order isn't for a large quantity of computers).

A local law firm would probably take interest in the case, and the better business bureau may be able to find some law offices that would take your case for free or little money.

Not to mention the fact that as stated you could build your own with the same specs or better for less money and likely with higher quality parts.

Re: How long should it take to build a system??

Two things I would recommend to you:

1) Call the Better Business Bureau in the town where you placed your order. If it is a decent company, you will get action.

2) Call the prosecuting attorney of that town and they can light a fire under those type of people if you file a formal complaint.
