I'm upgrading a friends computer

Its got the following setup:

Midtower case with ASUS ME-99B socket 370 baby at mother board and pentium 3 proccessors.

has 256 mb SDRAM installed
Has 40 GB harddrive with windows 98 installed
Has 52x cd burner installed
has 32 bit video card

he wants his pentium IV installed. all he cares about is the processing power. any suggestions for what i should keep or remove?

What size cpu is your friend running now? I think with p3's the fastest
you could go is 1.4ghz. If you want to go p4 you will need a motherboard
cpu 478pin, possibly ram, and powersupply.

Has 52x cd burner installed /add a dvd burner
has 32 bit video card/upgrade the card
most important put a quality psu with sufficient power to run the system in it
