Suggestions for ASUS board/card?

Hi,

I have an old machine with ASUS A7 board, new IDE drives and IDE DVDr/ws. Newish 650W power supply. 1G old style memory.

I want to keep all the drives and power supply to reduce costs. Looking for suggestions for ASUS boards that will use the IDE drives and carry as best as possible AMD CPU. OS will be 2000, no overclocking.

The most important thing the machine is used for is Photoshop work. I will want a graphics card that can drive two monitors.

One of my main parameters is quietness. I will take a drop in performance for a reduction in noise.

Many thanks in advance,

mike

Re: Suggestions for ASUS board/card?

if you are willing to upgrade your CPU also; then I would look to the asus A8N-sli deluxe (socket 939 cpu) with the 4400 X2 dual core cpu

have a peek on ebay for some used parts, there are often times so great deals!

Newegg also has some A8N-SLi Deluxe boards, although last I checked they were out of stock.
