Could you rephrase the question or explain a little better on what you are trying to figure out.

My System

A tech to systems ratio ...

Well, all things being equal .... And assuming the PC Tech is only responsible for the PC and the cable to the wall ... I'd say 75:1 or even 100:1.

A lot depends on corporate policies (acceptable use, surfing limits, etc.). If the corp has a good hold on the use of the machines (actively blocking sites, holding users accountable, authorized software lists, managed AV, etc.), then 100:1 is not outrageous.

Location means a lot, also. 100 pc's spread around a state would be tough on a single tech.

Ok sorry let me rephrase this.

How many PC technicians would be needed to look after a 600 PC networks running Microsoft XP, outlook and Office XP or 2003 among other applications? Excluding servers.

lol thank for the reply.

Where i work its around 450 - 500 PC for 2 guys to look after. One guy doing faults (lucky me) and the other guy doing installations. There are still a large number of win98 PCs with 64 or 128megs of RAM and 650 - 900MHz CPUs. The network also still runs at 10meg (10 meg full duplex ). There is also a lot of custom software running on the network.

O i really love my job

Been there ... 2 guys running a 600 user network (all network and pc support) with 2 hard-wired buildings and 3 dial-up sites ..

Which is why I am all for 75- or 100-to-1 staffing ...

Unless your clients are doing massive file transfers, a 10mbps full duplex network is more than enough - if it's set up properly (switches not hubs, subnetting to limit broadcasts, etc.)

Time to write up s request for some more staff. Maybe as for 1 more full-time hire amd try to get 2 or 3 interns from the local college (free labor rules).
