Help! Cant find info on uninstall for windows media player

I ,,,like a fool,,,updated windows media player,,(running win me) and it doesnt play with adaptec easy cd creator or copier or anything in that program. No,,,its not in the add/remove programs,,nor is it available in any download programs that remove programs. Microsofts KB doesnt list a way to do it. Have I stumbled upon the impossible? I dont have a cd for adaptec cause it came pre-installed on puter. Im miserable. Even Internet Explorer is locking up now. This is the only thing Ive installed in the last month. Please HELP! Thanks for any help.

I'm a bit confused as to what this means:
"it doesnt play with adaptec easy cd creator or copier or anything in that program"
Could you clarify please.

When I say dont play ,,,I mean adaptec wont open,,,gives me an error message saying the the ACM wrapper wasnt found. Cant find any info on that. The program is useless now. Win media has killed it. I just want to uninstall windows media player.

I'm not even sure Uninstalling it would fix the problem. I hate to say it, But WinME, EZ CD Creator are the buggiest software around. So... Are you sure its not listed under Remove Programs, in control panel? If not, Im not sure how you could remove it. I hope others here can comment on this also.

Have you tried RE-Instaling EZ CD?

Okay..... I don't know jack about ME, but I am hoping someone else can fil in the blanks in my ideas, but TweakUI (the best think microsoft has ever done) has a list of everything ever installed ( to my knowledge) Along with this fact under the add/remove programs there is the add/remove windows components tab, and between the two it should show up.... If not I'd write persistant nasty letters to Microshaft telling them to send someone to come to your house and fix it, that way you can laugh when they can't do it either.... if all else fails ( since you can't re-install EZ CD) I'd just reinstall the old version of media play ( from the ME CD) over the new media player. I hope this helps ( I also hope you can read pastthe m$ bashing)

Ok, heres what ive found out. Ive done alot of searching since my mistake. Ive found out that the new update of wmp will not work with with easy cd creator but the kb doesnt give any info on how to uninstall it (wmp). I cannot make a cd in music match or nero. Ive been a member at techrepublic, msdn, mcse live/cert tutor. yada yada yada for a few years ( im a computer engineering student). No one anywhere seems to know very much about this problem. Theres got to be a way. Im gonna try tweak and use the recovery cds. Will let you know the outcome. Thanks for your help everyone.

Well..you've got me beat...I'm just 16 year old computer geek, if I had known all that I'd have skipped the M$ bashing since you obviously know that they suck.....but the real question in my mind is WHY are you running ME???? Good luck by the way...(with the media player thing...and me too :D) You still might try installing the old media player over it ( i doubt it'll work but I'd try it before I reinstall an OS or something)

Well let me tell you, this is impossible. Microshaft offers no help in this arena. I went to windows setup and tried to remove multimedia to no avail. Still got same version. Win Me is what came on this computer after lightning fried my last one. I also have W2ks, W2kpro, Winxpro, and Win98se. I like those better but all the mp3 files and burning ware are on this computer. I might need to think about transferring these important files to another hard drive. Everything was fine untill the update. :(

Well I tell you NOTHING is impossible ( except slamming a revolving door).... If you can redownload the update.. I believe winrar recognises the format windows uses to encode their .exe installation files, and if you do that you can find exactly what was installed and replace each item 1 by 1 with the originals, or you can just backup your useful stuff . I suggest finding the registration # for EZ CD, then getting a copy from KAZAA (use a good AV) then using YOUR number so it wouldn't be stealing since it came preinstalled ( everyone's conscience would be happy:)) See nothing's impossible :D
