MAYA 4.0 .... any takers?

Okay.. I got a copy of Maya 4.0 from my graphics geek cousin... he's going to YSU to be a graphics designer. But anyway... he didn't include a licence, it wouldn't work on my comp. Basically it checks for the ethernet address of the comp. I did a little research on how the licences work ,and I can make it work on my comp with minor trouble... the only problem is the program that it uses to detect my ethernet address brings up ffffffff but that's not my real address (obviously) I have no clue what to do. If it helps I have a farallon EtherWare 10/100 mbps card... their website says that Win2k and XP come with drivers, but my win XP pro detects it as an Intel card, and has my cable connection at 10mbps when its capable of 100+. I'll take any help I can get on this one

Okay... if no one here has any ideas.. does anyone know of a forum that would? I would really like to get this software working.. it's using 2 GB of my hard drive for no good reason right now. Plus it's supposedly the best 3D modeling and rendering, so its not like I can just switch to something better or even equivalent.... So any tips would be appreciated :)
