I need help from a Norton Ghost Expert!
Hi,
I'm trying to create a bootable DVD using Norton Ghost 2003, that when loaded, will boot, load ghost and automatically reload the image from the media to the target HD, just as a system restore disk from a retail computer would. The laptop I have actually has a CD set created this way with Ghost 2003, so I know it's possible, but I don't seem to be able to reproduce this. I have read several tutorials and understand that their are basically 2 ways to perform this, i.e. 1.with the ghost program running from DOS or windows and using commands etc, or, creating an image separately and burnng it to a bootable DVD from 3rd-party software. I'm stumped in both options. I have a firewire DVD burner that I'm using to create this project and although I can create a boot floppy to make this drive visible in ghost, I cannot make this drive create a drive letter. Therefore, I am unable to create the command line parameters that would make the DVD bootable and run automatically (option 1), neither can I apply the boot information to apply to a 3rd party burning app. I think a Ghost guru is needed for this one...I know it can be done because the CD set I have that came with my laptop does exactly this and uses ghost 2003! Hope someone can give me some guidance on this as this has had my brain in circles for weeks now. Thanks. |
