Error 80040241 means the file format is not supported by Windows Media Player (i think) You could download some new codecs, reinstall WMPlayer, or try another media player like WinAmp or Media Player Classic which both play streaming files.
Also, check your Internet Options. If you've disabled Active X or Javascript this might prevent streaming videos.

www.free-codecs.com has a few different ones. The best one I've tried is K-Lite Codec Pack which contains audio/video/DVD codecs, some diagnostic tools and a really good alternative to Windows Media Player.

As for streaming, I usually have Active X switched off for security reasons, but have to turn it on to stream audio from radio stations. Might be worth looking at.

nevermind, thx anyway koala, ill just use this as a reference to people who have the same problem as i did in the future. i looked in the add/remove programs and saw the list. i had this weird windows media runtime format or something like that, i uninstalled it and it worked. im not sure where it came from.
