Real Player --- Windows Media

I am a student and I live with other people. I believe that one of my housemates installed real player onto my computer. After a lot of problems I think I finally got it off my computer, but now I cannot listen to my mp3s in Windows Media. For example, if I open my mp3 file the Real Player icon is still next to all the individual mp3s, not the WM one. (I hope this makes some sense!) Any pointers on how I can go about fixing this?
Thanks so much!

Right-click the file and select "open with" and then "choose program". Select Windows Media Player from the list and check the box marked "always use this program to open these files". Click OK. Problem solved.

another way to fix it is to open wmp and goto tools>options>file types. select which kinds of files you want wmp to open, click apply and now mp3s should open inside wmp.
