heh.

the xp cd i have is a real one, but it didnt come with a key, so i used jellybean to extract the key from the machine that came with it.

i don't even wanna check and see if it's a valid key, because it doesnt even matter to me.

(since the disk is 100% genuine, and not OEM, they can take a flying leap in the hot place before i'm gonna verify my key with them.)

A 100% Genuine CD is actually meaningless. It's the COA (either a paper certificate for the holographic sticker) that is the true license. Without that you don't have a license.

That said, the MS policy of affixing the sticker to the PC is pure BS. Why should the license be forever mated to that machine? Even worse, HP's recovery CD set will not install to a new machine, even if you have wiped the original (or, in the case of one of my customers, replaced the motherboard with a non-HP mobo.)

Just another way of screwing the customer.

i wish the pc i got this cd with had the little sticker on it, that wouldnt have been "lost" like i was told the cd case did.

either way, i feel that i own it well enough, it is an original, and i'm sure they don't just give those away.

Sadly that is true. I hate the fact that everytime I changed a motherboard, hd or memory, I've had to call them. Also I'm over my "free" 25 installs, so I have to call them every time I re-install windows.

it's as if they don't realize that alot of users upgrade constantly, and reinstall often.

it really burns me that they dont give graces for that without calling them.

And we all know nothing makes windoze run better than a fresh re-install. It's like Bill and his motley gang purposely try to deprive users of one of their most useful tools.
