Pricing

I'm 17 years old and have been working on PCs for a side job for a year or so now. I'm not one to be busy I normally get like a job or two a month. I've been told by some my pricing is dirt cheap. Here is what I charge

General repair 40 bucks plus any parts/extra expensives I had to go through
if i build a prebuilt 10% mark up excluding any software brought.
House ccall 20 bucks plus the general repair.

I recently was talking to a man who charged $200 in labor to reformat XP, as any techy knows it may take 2 or 3 hours to fully set up a PC from reformat to reinstall but 200%? I'd call that excessive normal XP reinstall takes me about 5 mins of labor if that. I just put the CD in reformat set the patrions and let it do the rest.

Do you consider my pricing too cheap? Avgerage or what? Remember I do this on the side.

At 17, probably not. It is a good side income and people wouldn't want to pau someone yor age anything high. I charge $20 just to look at it and $40 an hour from there.

I don't see a problem with your pricing. I normally charge around $50 p/hr.

This is very much excessive. Double that and buy a new computer. While the install is taking place you can keep yourself occupied with other repairs. A reinstall does not require 100% attendence.
A reinstall should be cheaper than diagnosing and repairing an ill fated computer. I have done virus removals that cost an upwards of $200.00 because of the nature of the computers environment.
