Does anyone know how one goes about becoming authorized by manufacturers to repair their products? HP has their Business Development Partners, but that is just for the resale of their products. I can find very little on the manufacturers' sites. Dell, Gateway, HP, IBM, Toshiba are some of the big players from which I am interested in getting warranty repair referrals.

It very seldom is worth the trouble unless you have pretty big business already. Dell doesn't do it at all. They contract to specific companies that handle all warranty repairs. HP requires you to buy a minimum of 50k per year in parts or products, etc. For those that do meet the requirements the pay is minimal. HP pays $50 per repair and nothing for repairs within 30 days. |

Trust me, you don't want to do it. Some of these companies can be a TOTAL pain, and often the customer doesn't want to hear how much trouble you're having with the company, they just want their stuff fixed fast and free. We don't do it anymore.

Thanks for the advise. After considering your remarks at great length, I find that it's probably not worth pursuing. I'm doing great without warranty work being sent my way.
