Crashes only in Games
I built a computer for a friend and these are the parts I used:
Sempron 2800+ w/ stock cooler XFX 6600GT (PVT43GNDF3 R) Pci-e ECS 761GX-M754 (1.0) (Motherboard) 1GB PC3200 Gigaram CASE XION XON-401 450W Everything works in his computer (XP installed). He has no problems with random crashes or slow ups. All 2D games work perfect, and he can run 3DMark w/o it crashing most of the time. But any time he gets into a demanding 3D app like F.E.A.R or Guild Wars, it crashes within 10 minutes. The video card is not overheating (we monitored it) and i doubt the CPU is either because the fan is on and it's not OC'd. We tried all kinds of drivers (card's site, CD, Nvidia.com), and have the latest DirectX. The only things I could think of it that it was overhating or that the PS was wimpy. But why would 3Dmark go all the way through most of the time??? Any ideas why it's crashing?? There is no disable onboard video for the MB, you can only choose to enable the PCI-e slot. |

Check the label on the side of the PSU. What does it say for 12v?
