Red Alert 2 Eva Lag/Freeeze

Today I bought Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2 (in the Sold Out series). And I installed it, then ran the patch installer (the latest one was included).

The game runs fine, but everytime Eva (the computer lady helper :P) says something (like "Unit Lost", "Unit Ready" or "Construction Complete") it freezes for about 2 seconds then continues and Eva speaks.

Any thoughts as to what the problem might be?

Thanks.

What sound card are you using? How much RAM? Is the game XP-compatible?

System requirements

Pentium II 266 minimum required
Microsoft Windows 95 or 98
32 MB RAM
200 MB hard disk space
4x CD-ROM drive
16-bit color video card (4 MB RAM recommended)
Sound Blaster or DirectSound compatible sound card

The game is XP compatible (I can play it on another XP comp which has 512MB of RAM)

My comp has 256MB.

Both the comps go way over system requirements though...

Do you have a DirectSound compatible soundcard? Try updating your soundcard driver.

If that doesn't help, go to Start > Run and type dxdiag, go to the Sound1 tab and drop the Hardware Acceleration level from Full to Standard, then click the 'Test DirectSound' button.

My soundcard has directsound, but even on No Acceleration, the probelm persists. It's as if the sound isn't loading into the RAM, or the comp isn't obtaining the sound as fast as it should.

I get the exact same problem. ¬_¬
My specs are
nvidia gt6600
a realtek AC97 audio
and 1.50 ram
2.8ghz
and it only lags when either EVA speaks
or a bit on the menu bits that say RED ALERT 2 with the radar effect and the liberty statue.

i do not have the sold out version.
