it sounds like you are having some driver conflicts. what is the sound chipset, the video card, and over all stats of your rig. and what versions of the drivers do you have installed?

im not sure about that stuff, what ever comes in an XPS, i dont think ive installed any drivers, for a while a "system 32" error would keep comin up,
but my mom ( im only 15, so im not as smart as some of you guys when it comes to stuff like this) fixed that.

i went to control panel and basic info and i'll type that stuff in now if it'll do any good, otherwise if you know how to get that info it would help

Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.40GHz
3.39 GHz 2.00 GB of RAM

thats all i figured "might" help, but im pretty sure that only has to do with memory.

also i think i tried to install a newer patch first should i start with v1.01 ( for BF2)

if im havin driver problems what could i do to fix them?

please reply as soon as you can thank you for posting in this thread, i thought no one would for a while

We'll need to know more about your system to help you. Go the the Start menu and select the Run... command. In there type in dxdiag and press enter. The DirectX Diagnostic and create a report summary that you can copy-paste into here for us to analyze.

....it jus made a loud screech noise .....

Sounds like video card issues, i.e. settings.
Here's what I do:
1.)Using 'Ghost 9', I do a complete drive image backup to another drive, an incremental every night, takes 10-15min. Then..
2.)I make my changes, i.e. install/modify/change/OC ... It's a a habit I've developed over time. Sometimes I do things that can't be fixed, so I wipe the drive and install my latest image....max, one hour shot! Why waste a day/week or, Heaven forbid, longer if you can get back to a sweet spot within an hour?

Games: Always START from the default settings, I know 640 x 480 doesn't sound very good, but if that's the default, use it. Use the native settings for you display if you can. Up-date your drivers, video (use 'DriveCleanerV3.3 or newer and FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS IN THE READ ME FILE) and sound card. Keep your rig tuned, i.e. use Adaware/RegMechanic/Regvac/Spyware Blaster/SpyBot S&D/Disk Cleanup/Error Check and defrag. Get 'The Ultimate Troubleshooter' and dump all your unwanted/un-needed processes and tasks.... stuff that bloats your computer and slows you down.

Stay lean, stay backed up. It's about playing games, not about fixing stuff!

Good luck - mitch

I'm going with the assumption that you're using a Windows OS. The Start menu is the button in the lower left (default) corner of the screen.
