A bit more information about your system would be information helpful in sorting out problems. I have played Far Cry (a lot!!) it is a game requiring a lot of power from the CPU, memory and especially the graphics card. I strongly suspect that the card you mentioned is the problem. Is that an onboard video or a plug in video card. The Far Cry web site lists the games requirements and that card does not seem to be in the list. I first purchased the game when I had an ATI Radeon 9600XT 256mb. It ran very well with that card. It runs much better with my current card however.

I cannot answer the question as to whether you would find the game worth upgrading your video card. I personally thought the game was excellent. I completed it and have replayed various levels 20-30 times, really!! I still play it with some frequency.
I will say this, if you think your video card is now or in the future going to prevent or interfere with your gaming, use that as the basis to decide on a new video card (or any other computer upgrade).
Just as an aside: In 1985 while I was stationed in Australia, a friend saw me playing Leaderboard golf on a Commodore 128. He left my house and went straight to the base exchange and ordered his own Commodore outfit.

My System

lem02,

Personally, I didn't find farcry all that great. But of course that is my opinion. It is a very hardware intensive game, however. Your graphics card is most likely the problem. IMO, upgrade the whole system if you have the means, otherwise, getting a new vid card should cure most of your problems. From looking at the games that are starting to come out now-a-days, they are getting pretty hardware dependant and your system is on the low end for the specs. some of the good games, COD2, DOOM3, etc. are requiring at least 1.5GHz P4, 256MB RAM, and 64MB video Ram. Good configs for games like these are usually around 2.4GHz P4, 1024GB RAM, and 256MB video ram. I hope this helps!

Good luck!

His graphics card is the problem. The onboard version of GF4 MX (like NF2 boards) will not do Direct Draw and true hardware accell. Upgrade to at least a 9600 Pro or 6600 to play Far Cry. 9800 Pro or 6600GT would be better.
