Dragon Age Origins causes Blue Screen of Death at Windows startup :(

i just bought and started playing this awesome awesome game, but have found that it makes windows be unable to start :(
it is the first time i've come accross anything like this
startup repair can't fix it, and i have to system restore to before i installed the game for it to start again
i simply cannot NOT play this game!!! but it seems like that's what i'll have to do :(
any suggestions are appreciated
I'm using an hp pavilion laptop with;
AMD Athlon X2 Dual-core QL65 2.10Ghz processor
3GB Ram
512MB graphics
Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit with service pack 1 (service pack 2 messed my sound up for some reason)

Hello and welcome to TSF.

Firstly, do you remember what the BSOD error message was? Without it, there isn't much information to go on. BSOD's almost always contain information which indicates what the error is caused by.

Secondly, could you please list what graphics card driver version you're running.

Finally, run through all of these steps.
