All games crash now.

I'm a hardcore PC gamer, and all of a sudden now I can't play anything. Like one day it just stopped working. I pretty much played only Call of Duty 5 the past several months with no problems, but now I can get about 30 seconds of play time on multiplayer before the screen pixelates, freezes, sound loops, and I have to shut my computer down.

I have never had any issues EVER. My video card is an evga nvidia geforce 8800 GT. I've updated my video drivers, no change. I have the new CoD on reserve at GameStop, ready to be picked up on Tuesday, but I'm probably going to have to cancel it because I'm not spending $60 on a game that won't work and I absolutely refuse to play a shooter on a console.

I have no idea what to do. Please help me.

Re: All games crash now.

You could try uppgrading yuor motherboard bios-there are specific updates for americanmegatrends and award-phoenix bioses. This may not be a solution but check that you have the latest version.

check your graphic card temperature during gameplay. my evga gtx 285 reaches 70C+ if i dont turn the fan up. Clean any dust of of the fans and case to make sure they get air.

RAM: 1gb x2 DDR2 400MHz [2GB total]

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 3.00 GHz
Wolfdale socket 775 LGA

PSU: 650w

OS: Windows XP 32 bit. Never got any service packs I don't think, a friend of mine put the OS on here off a disk he had and whenever I try to do ANYTHING it says "this copy of windows did not pass windows logo testing". I found I could get service pack 2 off isohunt.com as a torrent but I didn't because I have no idea what I'm doing. I'm going to buy Windows7 next week and a 1tb external HDD to backup all my files on.

I just threw in a geforce 8800 GTS to narrow it down to a video card error, but I couldn't even get to the game. It said, "Direct X fatal error" or something, the second I opened the game. So I put my other card back in after I blew out the fan. I was able to play for about 5 minutes on extremely reduced graphics settings until the round ended. Got happy, thought I fixed it, set the graphics settings back to where they originally were [fully maxed] and the same thing happened: pink pixelated fuzziness, sound loops, freezing, and I have to manually shut down the PC. :(

Sorry, but the Thread is Closed
you are using a non Genuine Copy of Windows XP
