games running choppy
ok im hoping you guys can help me with my situation,
i've got my hands on a new laptop a gaming notebook sort of laptop. here are the specs: Mobile DualCore Intel Core 2 Duo P8700, 2533 MHz 4059 MB (DDR3-1066 DDR3 SDRAM) ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4650 (512 MB) Windows vista Ultimate 64bit service pack 2 with directx 10.1 now my friend also bought himself a new laptop, identical to mine in both looks and parts the only difference being my processor speed is 2.5 and his is 2.8. now his laptop runs games beastly, with most if not all settings on high, but somehow even with my settings on medium the gameplay is slow or sometimes choppy does the processor speed make that much of a difference between our systems? or is there something i can do/change to make my system run the way it should. i'd be happy to upload any further information on either of our systems if needed. |

Re: games running choppy
Hello and welcome to TSF
your processor is good for games, maybe your friend's CPU could be a bit better the performance should only be a bit noticeable in CPU intensive games (like GTA IV) I suspect it could be a heat issue download SIW from my sig, open it and choose "Sensors" under "Hardware" check the temps. play a game for about 10 to 15 mins, minimize it and recheck the temperatures again. please post both temp states (idle, under stress)

Re: games running choppy
Prototype is one of the CPU intensive games make sure that you have the latest drivers for your video card
download fraps from here: www.fraps.com it measures the frames per second play Prototype with fraps running to see what is the fps you are getting everything from 30 and above is playable
