Dragon Age: Origins - Requirements

I would like to know if my system can run the game and on what graphic quality? I ran Can You Run It? but I'm told it's not too reliable.

System specs:

AMD Athlon II X2 Dual Core 245 2.90GHz
4 GIG of RAM
GeForce GTS 250 1024MB GDDR3

Any help would be wonderfull.

Well your system should run in quite well, the only thing that holds you back really is your Processor.
What brand and wattage is your Power Supply, just out of interest?

That is all information on it.

Do you think I could run the game on High settings?

Also if I was to upgrade my CPU which would you suggest? with a budget of around £100 (can go a little higher).

Could I overclock it? would it be worth it?

Re: Dragon Age: Origins - Requirements

Holy crap, that thing has a 400w Corsair, which is not enough at all.
With that card, i would suggest getting at least a 750w Corsair for that PC.

Re: Dragon Age: Origins - Requirements

For the GTS250 a Corsair 650W.

At least it was a Corsair PSU, rather than some garbage unit. You can sell the Corsair on ebay or something for ~$40, or use it in a different computer. They're good power supplies, 400W just isn't really enough for a GTS250.

Yea with a 400w PSU I would use it for a computer with a integrated graphics on the motherboard. You should keep the PSU and just use it for a low end computer.

^ Agreed. So if you have a Dell or HP or eMachines (especially an eMachines! Or Packard Bell!) and you don't mind breaking the warranty just a little bit to remove the most likely cause of needing a warranty... You might as well install the Corsair unit in it. It should do for integrated graphics, low-end AGP graphics, or very low-end PCIe graphics, perhaps an 8400GS or HD 4350.

Re: Dragon Age: Origins - Requirements

So what would you guys recommend?

A new PSU and CPU?

Could you give me a list of possible upgrades? Myself I was thinking for the CPU that is a AMD Phenom either Tri or Quad, what do you think?

Re: Dragon Age: Origins - Requirements

Any game will run just fine on your computer but if you want to you could upgrade. You should focus on getting a new PSU first.

Corsair 750w
$120
after rebate $110

If you want to upgrade your CPU this is the one you should go for.
AMD Phenom II X4 945 Deneb 3.0GHz 4 x 512KB L2 Cache 6MB L3 Cache Socket AM3 125W Quad-Core Processor - Retail
$166

Whats your motherboard?

The CPU upgrade is fine, Here are your specs for the motherboard.

The PSU is the priority to get first. Then worry about the CPU.

They are fairly easy,
Heres a good guide on how to connect one up: http://www.brighthub.com/computing/h...les/10104.aspx

Re: Dragon Age: Origins - Requirements

The CPU is a bit tougher than the PSU, but the PSU is easy.

Re: Dragon Age: Origins - Requirements

My system:
Athalon X2 @ 2.2gz
2gb ram
NForce4 mb
Radeon 4850 512mb
!WindowsXP!

My system runs the game very well, so yours should be even better! No frame rate issues or lag or anything. I am very picky about graphics and it looks great to me. Looking great on my system I can't imagine how good it must look on a high end system. Maybe I'll get to experience it someday...

frame buffer effects on
graphics detail set to medium
texture detail set to high
1440x900 resolution
