[SOLVED] games and windows 7

I just installed windows 7 recently and not haveing alot of computer skills I am having problems running games that say they are not supported for windows 7. such as WOW and DDO stormreach. The games load and play then freeze the whole system so I have to restart.

I have a self built comp. it has 4 gigs of ram, nvidia geforce 8200 video card (integrated on the motherboard) a 3.10 gigahertz AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core a decent hard drive, I have heard others say they dont have problems with windows 7 running thier game. I ran the "can you run it" program and the only fail I got was windows 7

Any advice???

Welcome to TSF

Try running these programs in compatibility mode, xp service pack 3. Is this a new computer or did you upgrade to 7? Integrated video cards are not good for playing games. Also I don't recommend can you run it cause it's not accurate. It says my intel chipset can run bf2142 with a intel chipset but in reality I got 8 fps(lol).

I've actually found 7 to run games better than XP ever did. I can even run my old Win 95-era games great!

Re: games and windows 7

Zealex, this is an upgrade I have had the computer for about a year. I have not had much experiance with 7 yet how do you run the compatibility mode? and yeah I know on the video card I have been trying to save some cash to get a decent card.

RockmasteR, I didn't install any drivers afterwards i was under the assumtion it installed all the drivers when it upgraded, I will look as soon as I get off of work. I did run the Belarc advisor and found no problems there.

Re: games and windows 7

To do compatibility mode you need to find the game executable file (exe) and right click on it. Go to properties after and find the compatibility tab. Run the games as Vista SP2 or earlier and administrator.

Did you try different compatibilities modes? Try running it as either Win XP SP3 or Windows Vista SP2.
