Another World Planet (OLD GAME)

There is an old game named AWPlanet aka Another World Planet.

My PC details: Intel Pentium E5200, Ati Radeon HD4350, 2GB DDR2 667mhz

My graphix drivers are updated and stuff, but there is a problem with this game.
I remember when i was playing this game with my old Pentium 3 (it was like 5-6 years ago), but now, when I installed this game to my new PC, When the game is running, and when im doing something ingame, this game, Portal.exe memory usage increases heavily until my PC slows down like hell and game crashes.

Any ideas how to fix this abnormal memory usage?

Hello and welcome to TSF

That looks like the game is having a serious Memory Leak. Try finding a patch or update for the game, also make sure you have Service Pack 3.

The game is fully updated. I asked from AWPlanet forums and support administrator said that he cant help, because he heard about that problem first time in his life.

In Task Manager, find the game's process, right click it and go to Set Priority > High (and try Realtime) and see if that makes a difference.

Re: Another World Planet (OLD GAME)

That sounds like a memory leak from the game to me. Try closing MSN, bitlord, etc while playing the game (any extra program) and see if the that helps. It might have to do with extra programs running.

Re: Another World Planet (OLD GAME)

Hello, I just tried out all the priorities and none of them helps me out.
Also I disabled those programs on startup, rebooted and still problem exists. Memory usage doesn't increase only if i'm somewhere in the game, where isnt any animations and stuff and i have to stand still, if i move, memory usage increases.

Looks like a mystery :) But im pretty sure that the game and my PC are in conflict with each other.

Try reinstalling the game using Revo Uninstaller and see if that helps.

Re: Another World Planet (OLD GAME)

Have you tried uninstalling it with Revo or if that doesn't work just deleting the game's folder and its contents. You should also patch the game to its latest patch. I'm assuming since this is a MMO that it will auto patch. It's an old Russian MMO too so the code may just be bad and not intended for newer computers.

Re: Another World Planet (OLD GAME)

I tried to uninstall with revo, and that game wasnt in list. so i choosed hunter mode, poined it to awplanet shortcut and it gave me this error. Game is updated and im also sure that that game doesnt support newer computer. Anyway thanks for supporting me with this and i hope that game will be fixed soon for newer computers.

Re: Another World Planet (OLD GAME)

Looks like even they don't know what is going on. I would say to set a max allocate amount of memory, but then you may just get an O.O.M error, and we don't want that.

Looks like this problem is unfixable. Keep us posted on what the other guys say on that forum.

That's what is so baffling... I suspect it has something to do with your allocated memory though...

Re: Another World Planet (OLD GAME)

Well I don't know. I was just wondering if I can find someone who has same computer as i do and test, does this game runs well on his/her computer. But I'm not going to look for someone specially for that. That game is just funny to play. It was my first online game i started playing (second one was runescape classic, etc, etc...) and i really wanted to remind old memories.

I know what you mean. For the time being, this thread will remain unsolved. Just remember to come back if you found a fix.
