Blue screens on CoD4

Hey,
I'm getting blue screens of death while playing Call of Duty 4 online, sometimes with the error message - dxgmms1.sys

My system specs are well past minimum for the game...

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4GHz
ASUS P5N-E SLI
4GB Corsair XMS2 800MHz
SLI 2 x NVidia 8600GTS 256MB (512MB)
700W Thermaltake Toughpower
Windows 7 Professional 64 Bit

And I can play Counter Strike Source, Left 4 Dead, Team Fortress 2 absolutely fine with high graphics and fps

I've tested my memory with memtest86, working fine :)

Anyone come across this before? Thanks

Re: Blue screens on CoD4

hello Mason29,
are you overclocking the video card? if so, return it to its stock values
also try to get the latest drivers for your video card
you know that most games hates SLi and I think COD 4 is one of them, try to disable SLi and see what happens

Re: Blue screens on CoD4

The issue is probably driver related. See if Nvidia has a newer driver on their website and download it. If not, Windows Update is usually a pain free way of finding an older driver.

Re: Blue screens on CoD4

While as already stated the problem may lie in your video card/drivers, your power supply unit is on the minimum range of what you should have for your system. Your system is not very unstable, but a PSU such as the Thermaltake toughpower 750W PSU or the Corsair 750TX 750W PSU may do a better job for your computer than the one you are currently using.

Im not overclocking, I got the most recent drivers, I've updated BIOS, and I've tested RAM.

Re: Blue screens on CoD4

Did you try disabling SLI? What driver version are you running?

Re: Blue screens on CoD4

Yeah I've tried disabling SLI, and I'm using the most up to date, 191.07 WHQL drivers from NVidia for my card, Windows 7 64bit

Re: Blue screens on CoD4

How recently did this problem occur? Try uninstalling your current drivers and using an older version like this one. Also try removing one of your 8600s, then try to play.
