Empire total war crash

During a game on the campaign map and sometimes battle my empire total war crashes and i can only reboot
this happens when it crashes

ive tried using different graphics drivers and working with the graphics options

my specs:
Intel core 2 duo E8400 3.00GHz
4gb Ram
BFG geforce 260 oc
vista 64 home prem

any other suggestions which could resolve this issue

Hi dunny,
Have you tried a complete re-install using Revi uninstaller?
Your games files may be corrupt.

Hello dunny774,
the video card is overclocked so return it to its factory value and try to play the game again
if the problem persists download ATITOOL from my signature and scan for artifacts
it could be that your card is artifacting

it was overclocked like that when i bought it

and it used to do it on my old 8800gt card before the patchs
ill have alook at ATItool and reviuninstaller

could you also please post the model of your PSU? and the wattage and the Amps under the "+12V" line
to see that, you need to open the side case of your tower, and take a look at the PSU sticker

finsihing downloading updates

and using the ATI tool when i run scan atifects my card makes a noise (might be the fan)

and my PSU is
coolermaster 1000watts
RS-A00-ESBA

15-8A

Just been playing on it for 45 minutes including a battle and it seems to be fine but
since it is random i cant say its gone yet

has suffered another crash in a battle which is different
the screen doesnt have any artifects and it freezes with a sound loop
and the only way to get out of it is to
reboot

i cant win
any ideas

Update: i have change my drivers to the latest ones since old ones dont work and see if the fixes work with the latest drivers

Update: The change of drivers hasnt made any difference and it will still crash the same way on the campaign map. Its starting to drive me right up the walll

any of suggestions that could fix this irritating problem

I really don't know what more to do with the game, at the moment, i mean we've tried reinstalling and rolling back drivers, updating etc...
I will have another think and get back to you on this.

Can you open up the bios (pressing f8 or f10 whatever it says to get into bios) and telling me in the PC health section (depends on the bios itself and what its called). Anyways could you tell me what the 12v rail is at?
