FRAPS - Export output to another computer?
So I've been trying to get FRAPS to go up to 60 fps on my laptop with an emulator, but it's just not gonna go that high by itself. I have heard that exporting the files to an external hard drive would help greatly, but unfortunately I don't have enough money for one right now. But I DO have another computer - is there some sort of cable, connector or anything that I can use to run FRAPS on one computer and save its output to the other?

Re: FRAPS - Export output to another computer?
Hi and welcome to TSF,
I honestly don't think that this is going to increase the amount of FPS you get in fraps, it's quite a fiddly thing to do. How many FPS do you get at the moment? Whats are your system specs also?

Re: FRAPS - Export output to another computer?
getting 60 FPS in fraps when recording have nothing to do with the Hard Disk
you really need a beasty PC to get 60 fps when recording so even if you got an external HDD and record the output on it, it won't change it's normal that the game slows down when recording, when you watch the videos will notice that there are no slow downs you can adjust the options a bit open fraps and choose Movies, choose the "50 fps" option

Re: FRAPS - Export output to another computer?
Well the way the emulator works, the game is directly tied to the framerate (I hope I'm describing this correctly), so when the FPS is below 60 the gameplay and the music becomes slower. The emulator (am I allowed to use names on this form?) has a frame skipping option, but that seems to work too well (missing menus in-game, music skipping, etc.). As it is, I'm getting around 60 frames with FRAPS on, but I need a little extra push to get it consistantly at 60, and I figured moving the output to an external hard drive would do that for me.
I'm using a Qosmin G50 laptop with an Intel Core Duo 2.4GHz processor, Geforce 9600M GT card and 4 gigs of ram. My hard drive can hold 460 GB, and about 90 GB of that is being used at the moment. |

Re: FRAPS - Export output to another computer?
what is the emulator you are using? and where do you get the ROMS from?
you know that the games are protected by copyright laws!

Re: FRAPS - Export output to another computer?
I'm trying to use ePSXe and FRAPS to make gameplay videos of some of my older Playstation RPGs (it can run them from the CD drive; I'm hoping to get a VGA box or something similar in the future so I can skip the emulator alltogether, but once again I don't have any money!).
