cannot enter game

i need help please. i just bought diablo 2 again after not playing for awhile. i can connect to a server and everything but everytime i try to join a game or create a game i get to the join screen and it tells me "join failed" i dont know whats going on. i am connected to the internet and i have updated the system to v1.12 or whatever it is now. i need to know how to fix this problem cause single player is getting boring. thanx.

Also, are you trying to get into a Battle.net server or one hosted on a LAN?

I think the solution may be a lot simpler than a computer issue. When you created your character, did you select "Ladder Character" ? If so, you can only play on the East or West Ladder, so when you try to connect to a non-ladder game or vice-versa, you will get to "Failed to join server"

my character is not ladder, ive adjusted my router, windows, and internet firewall. ive even gone into my router and adjustid it. i even tried to join a game on another tower and same internet and it wouldnt let me join. do you guys think i might have to talk to my building and c if they have something blocking it? the internet i mean.

Do you live in a University dormitory? If you do they block all ports that are usually related to gaming normally. You would have to talk to them to get ports opened for you.
