COD4 - Losing Key packets.

Hello everyone, as you might've noticed I'm new to these forums and I bring with me the following problem.

A while ago I started playing COD4 again, or atleast tried to. At first it succeeded and everything worked except for the single player, after a load of trouble and many many re-installs the Single player worked, after completeting the campaign I started playing MP, and then I noticed that I kept getting kicked by Punkbuster for Losing Key packets, now I've already reinstalled Punkbuster with this pbsetup thing from the evenbalance site. I've also forwarded my ports and now I am hopeless and after searching google and finding nothing, I decided to go here for help. (I was here too to see if I could fix it but it didn't work.)

[SOLVED] COD4 - Losing Key Packets
I searched for my router, found it under linksys WRT5G or something like that. (Yes I did search it correctly but I can't recall the name so quick.)
And forwarded the port, also checked it with this program on the same site (The port forwarding site) but still no effect.

Littleman,

Re: COD4 - Losing Key packets.

Did you set up a static IP address for your computer so that the linksys router could keep that port forwarded to your computer?

I'm a little worried about your PSU too. Can you open the side of the tower and tell me what it says on the label of the PSU?

Re: COD4 - Losing Key packets.

Setting up a static IP? You'll have to explain how I do that because I have no idea what you mean.

The label of the PSU? My tower is already open because it used to have heath problems. But I think my PSU is fine because it's brand new, just a month or more old. It was I believe 700 Watt, let me check I think I bought it on alternate.

Okay, I found it afterwards under the PSU, it was labeled:
Silencer 750 EPSV12 CrossFire
Googled it and found a picture, it looks just like that and it got the same label stuff so I think it's the right one

Re: COD4 - Losing Key packets.

That is a very nice PSU you have there. No worries about it especially with the lowe end graphics card you have. You could be running a ATI 5850 with that card.

This would be the guide to make your internal IP address static.
Guide found here.

Port forwarding for COD 4

Re: COD4 - Losing Key packets.

I already did the port forwarding, gonna start on the static IP as soon as I bought my new mouse also: Recently I decided to upgrade my pc so new Motherboard, PSU, HDD. Now my Graphics card is the only one outdated, I'm gonna spare up a little for it but I might stick to my current one because I am still waiting for Assasins's creed 2 and Modern Warfare 2 and those will probably together cost about 100 Euros.

Re: COD4 - Losing Key packets.

Okay, I followed all the steps and I think it's up now. Internet still working etc etc.
So does this fix it or is it just one step?

E: ****, sorry double post, if anyone can merge my posts together? I wasn't paying attention.

Re: COD4 - Losing Key packets.

You just need to follow the port forwarding guid again but this time use the static IP you set it to.

Easiest way to see what IP you have it as is to run command prompt and type this ipconfig/ all

Start menu'
run
cmd
type ipconfig /all

right click on the box and ctrl + C to copy it here

Re: COD4 - Losing Key packets.

Be sure to change your config as well, the default maxpackets is 30, - try /cl_maxpackets 100 in the console, also, i've never been a fan of pbsetup, you can go to www.evenbalance.com , and click Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, then click "Download" and "For Players" and add the PB files to your pb directory manually.

Re: COD4 - Losing Key packets.

This is the file you need to download here.
pbsetup

You just need to find your game's installation directory and the game's name. If you choose the game it may find where it is installed automatically.

Re: COD4 - Losing Key packets.

Uhh the PB setup I had tried before as stated, it did not succeed in stopping the errors. I already updated COD4.

@Renjizzle. Right click what file.. The Command prompt file? I just selected it and pressed Ctrl+C then in here, Ctrl+V.

Re: COD4 - Losing Key packets.

What have you done so far?
I have heard nothing on if you made sure the port was forwarded with the correct static IP address and if its worked. Your ipconfig /all didn't show your IP address too.

Re: COD4 - Losing Key packets.

Sorry for being gone for such a while, my processor had broken down and now I can't even start up the MP anymore, I did buy MW2 though and that is working fine but had the same MP problem, I started up it gave me a blackscreen, I verified the files with steam and everything ran perfectly again after re-downloading corrupted files.
