CoD4 FPS problems
Hi, this is my first time using this forum so here goes.
I have been playing CoD4 for about 2 years now, and recently its just not the same. I used to get 125 FPS constantly and now with the settings I used back then, I get 125 then it will randomly drop to 30 and rise back up again. It is impossible to play because it is so laggy. I have found out something that makes me able to play, I have changed the sound quality to low (which I cant stand) and my FPS is now stuck on 125 BUT every few minutes it drops to 30 and starts to lag for around 30 secs. It is very annoying. Another problem which could be a solution. I cant update my graphic or motherboard drivers! I download the latest ones, I install them and everything is fine... Until I have to reboot. My PC restarts then about the time it takes to get to the log in screen where you choose the account to log in on, my monitor just goes to standby... And I have to restart and do a System Restore to be able to get things back to how they were... System specs Operating System: Microsoft Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600) System Manufacture: GBT___ BIOS: Award Modular BIOS v6.00PG Processor: Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.20GHz (2 CPUs) Memory: 3072MB RAM DirectX Version: Direct 9.0c Graphics card: Geforce 9800 GT 512MB Thanks for your time! |

Re: CoD4 FPS problems
Hi and welcome to TSF,
Are you uninstalling previous display drivers before installing the new ones in safe mode? This could be the problem with the drivers. Also could you post the brand and wattage of your PSU. Thanks.

Re: CoD4 FPS problems
125 FPS is not necessary really
try to force Vsync in the game and see if the frame drops stops when you enable Vsync, the max fps is related to your refresh rate so if your refresh rate is 60 -> fps 60 and trust me, you don't need more than 60 fps for a game

Re: CoD4 FPS problems
Hello Vermin92,
Can you tell me your temps with PC Wizard 2009? Could you also tell me what your 12v rail is at in your bios? |
