[SOLVED] Flight Simulator 2004 anti aliasing issues.
I have looked and posted this in multiple forums and have yet to find a solution. Hopefully, after drifting from forum to forum, I can find a solution here.
After reformatting my computer, my anti aliasing in Flight Simulator 2004 has been acting strange. I have downloaded and installed nHancer and set it up exactly like the link in parenthesis, which worked flawlessly before the reformat. (http://www.simforums.com/forums/foru....asp?TID=29041) Even though I do have anti aliasing, it only works when zoomed in. If it's further away, the jagged lines are really hard to miss. Aircraft-wise, only the Captain Sim 757 (an add-on) is effected. I've reinstalled FS2004 AND the Captain Sim 757 with the update to no avail. There are also jagged lines in the horizon with any aircraft, but I'm not worried about that at all, as it doesn't effect the flight. Here are some screenshots to demostrate the problem. Focus on the American Airlines logo: http://img515.imageshack.us/img515/4622/aaproblems3.png However, when zoomed in, the jagged lines disappear.: http://img175.imageshack.us/img175/1087/aaproblems4.png Same thing thing happens when you are in the cockpit. Now, it actually becomes troublesome instead of just an annoyance and pet peeve. Because of the jagged lines, it is hard to read the heading and altitude settings on the autopilot. Focus on the glareshield and the F/O (co-pilot, in layman's terms) position in general. http://img4.imageshack.us/img4/5821/aaproblems1.png When zoomed in: http://img513.imageshack.us/img513/5522/aaproblems2.png Here's how it looked like before the reformat: http://img260.imageshack.us/img260/7890/757ss1.png http://img205.imageshack.us/img205/4665/757ss3.png Specs: RAM: 3071 MB CPU: Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.20GHz Motherboard: Dell Inc. 0U7084. Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce 7950 GT PSU: Can't find it, no stickers, no nothing, besides the fact that it was made in Mexico. OS: Microsoft Windows XP Professional 5.1.2600 Service Pack 2. All help will be greatly appreciated. Last edited by LtCarman; 10-30-2009 at 10:45 PM. |

Re: Flight Simulator 2004 anti aliasing issues.
Hello and Welcome to TSF
Make sure all setting are set to the maximum. You may also want to play around with the resolution (make it larger, or smaller etc). I also recommend downloading Service Pack 3 from Microsoft.

All my settings are at maximum. I have messed around with the resolution as well. The only resolution that makes the AA somewhat better (not by much) is the highest setting, 1680 X 1050. However, at that resolution, everything becomes stretched and distorted. |

Re: Flight Simulator 2004 anti aliasing issues.
When you reformatted did you change video drivers?
I have seen different driver versions change the appearance. Possibly try a different version and see if it helps in any way. Also in the Nvidia control panel try the enhance programs settings option and see if that clears it up any. |
