All games crash with error
Ok, a slight explanation at first
around 2 weeks ago my power supply died (500W), I replaced it with a slightly less powerfull one.. it burned and died, taking my motherboard with it, so I replaced my motherboard + power supply again. I used to have an ASRock 4CoreDual-SATA2 R2.0 motherboard + Threatcore CPU and the 500W power supply. I replaced everything that was broken, so the motherboard now + power supply is Asus M2V motherboard (got it from a friend and that's what the thing says) + AMD Athlon 64 processor and a new 500W power supply. I had to reinstall ofcourse, I installed Windows 7 Ultimate first. installation failed (no idea why) the first time, but the second time it worked, but when i tried to play a game it would give a "We found an error and need to close" error after aprox. 5-10min. It annoyed me and i reinstalled it, but this time with Windows XP. All went great, installed every driver available etc. I tried to play a game, and it resulted in the same as stated above. The annoying thing is, it happens with EVERY game i play, i get to play 5-10minutes and then it freezes, gives the Found and error and need to close error and closes. Sometimes, it gives a BSOD, i tried to get some info out of that, and the only thing i could make up from it was a Driver problem, so i scanned everything.. updated and download anything that was missing, but it still gives the errors. After reading a ton of forums about it to try and find a solution, i've checked: Overheating, wasn't the problem.. i've got 4 fans (videocard, cooler, power supply, side of the comp.) It remains at the normal 45-48degrees and doesn't change whatsoever. Driver problem, wasn't the problem.. even after the complete scan, updating and installing it still occured RAM, not the problem, i've got 2GB of RAM and never had problems with it before. Game graphic settings, not the problem.. i've tried games on Ultra setting and Low/Off setting and it doesn't change at all I'm using, Asus M2V motherboard AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3800+ 2.40 Ghz, 2.00 GB or RAM Nvidia GeForce 9400 GT videocard This is my last resort, help please because it's making me frustated and i'm very close to throwing my comp out of the window. (I don't get BSODs now anymore) Thank you :) |

Re: All games crash with error
What is the brand and model of the new power supply? There's a lot more to a PSU than wattage.
It's possible that when the earlier PSUs died they damaged more than just the motherboard. Your hard drive or graphics card or RAM could be fubar as well. Download Memtest86+ and burn it to a CD (from another computer of course) and boot from that. Let the test run for at least two hours to check for memory errors. Find out the manufacturer of your hard drive and post it here, we'll find you your manu's hard drive diagnostic, when we do you need to do the same thing as with memtest86+. Only way I can think of to check the graphics card is to swap it out with another one and see if the problem goes away.
