Re: Entering Power Save Mode while Gaming..argg!

all makes no sense to me. I agree normally the voltage would be the cause of this but why if the PSU was failing and sending out bad voltage it would do that all the time. my PC has been on for 3 days now. Haven't logged into wow. I would think that if the hardware is failing it would have done so by now. I copied wow into a different partition and I will try to run it tonight. I just want to see if maybe my HD is failing. |

Re: Entering Power Save Mode while Gaming..argg!
sorry i wanted to update this because it's definitely still an issue. it has now come to the point where the screen never turns on. I had two PSUs to test, here is where it's get weird. one PSU was a 10pinx2 and the other a 12pinx2 PSU both were 500 watt. My mother board currently has a 10 and a 12 plugged in. Neither one would even let me turn on the computer.
I called Dell and pretty of course they said they won't pay for repairs but they offered me a discount on a new computer... i found that more annoying than anything. So now it looks like it might be motherboard... the problem with that is it's a Dell BTX motherboard. I pretty much have to go thru dell to get a replacement and they only see refurbished motherboards and they are not cheap. This PC is starting to look like a very large paper weight. Thank you Dell. |

Re: Entering Power Save Mode while Gaming..argg!
Sorry about the lack of response, I forgot about your thread. My sincere apologies.
So what exactly is the problem at the moment? Does the computer even start up? (Do the fans on the CPU/GPU/motherboard start spinning?

Re: Entering Power Save Mode while Gaming..argg!
it was completely dead up until last night. I am pretty much screwed if i need to change PSU or motherboard because of the nature of dell.
What i did last night is i put in a PCI video card and removed the PCI-E one i was using. came up no problem. I had tried before to put a PCI-E video card to replace the current PCI-E card and it didn't work. I think i had mentioned something about that earlier. anyways so now that it is working with a PCI card it might still be a PSU issue because it doesn't have enough power to power the other card. It could also be the motherboard port i am thinking. I am going to get another PCI-E card to test tongiht or tomorrow to see if that works. thanks for the help so far |

Re: Entering Power Save Mode while Gaming..argg!
Have you tried simply replacing the CMOS battery? Or a different PSU?

Re: Entering Power Save Mode while Gaming..argg!
replacing the PSU isn't easy.. it requires a PSU with a 10 pin and a 12 pin connector because motherboard needs alot of juice. I haven't found any that do that.

Re: Entering Power Save Mode while Gaming..argg!
So does the computer start if you remove your graphics card and use the onboard graphics?

Re: Entering Power Save Mode while Gaming..argg!
doesn't have an onboard. only seems to work with a PCI card.
I am going to order a new PCI-E card to see if it's the card that is dead. not sure if i should get a 9800 gtx or a radeon 4870. |

Re: Entering Power Save Mode while Gaming..argg!
One thing you can try before ordering a new card, (I doubt it will work, but it's worth a shot) is replacing the battery on the motherboard.
On your motherboard there will be a little battery, it will look like this: ![]() If you have a battery of that type to replace it with, simply depress the little metal flap and the battery should pop out, replace it with the new one. Again I'm not sure this will help, usually when the battery goes, the computer just fails to start 100% of the time, not intermittently, but it is worth a shot and costs nothing to try.
