[SOLVED] Windows 7 and Flight Sims
I recently installed Windows 7 and though it a great improvement on VISTA, I am having problems w/ screen resolution. Some of my games come up in a square window, some do not. Sky Defenders is unplayable now (one of my favorites!) because of this. AT least w/ VISTA, you could adjust the resolution to 16 and 32 bit; not on Windows 7. I've tried changing the resolution to 800x600 and others, w/o success. Anyone have any ideas about this?Maybe an automatic screen resolution adjuster? Thanx!

Re: Windows 7 and Flight Sims
Hi nyguy,
Before you run the games which run in a window, try right clicking on them and selecting "Run Maximised" from properties.

Re: Windows 7 and Flight Sims
Windows 7 do that
I mean the square thing it all depends on the refresh rate, if the game's refresh rate is 60 then Windows 7 will adjust the resolution to a square with all black surroundings try what floop's suggested and see what happens if you can adjust the game's refresh rate, put it on 70+ hertz (some games allow you to do that, like NFS, Burnout Paradise, Mass Effect, etc...)

Re: Windows 7 and Flight Sims
Thanx, guys, for replying to my thread. I clicked on maximize window, and tha didn't work. Couldn't find the 70 hz anywhere on the games in question. I tried the program compatability thing on Windows 7 and that doesn't work (shoulda figured!). Don't know what to do next. I mean, all the games (save Sky Defender) work, they're just in a square window. On Sky Defender, all the click functions were on the (L) side of the window, e.g. missions, options, et al. Now when I open it, I don't have them anymore. Sigh!

Re: Windows 7 and Flight Sims
as I said, this isn't any bug or error, this is Windows 7 just works
go to the display options and under the Monitor's settings try to increase the refresh rate (if it's 60 hertz set it to 70 or 75 hertz)

Re: Windows 7 and Flight Sims
I don't have the ability to go to 70 hz; just 60. However, I found the bit display and changed it to 16. I can now play Sky Defender but still have the square monitor. Thanx for your help.
