Xbox 360 Controller completely freezing my Laptop :(

Okay so it's not the REAL xbox 360 controller, but I plugged the gamestop brand into my laptop and all it did was completely freeze everything. The only way out was to reset the computer, and it did the same thing the second time. I never once recieved a popup to install new hardware either, just got an hourglass icon thing(the vista circle) for a while before it finally froze up.

I don't think it's the controller because my PC can use the hookup just fine. But it won't hook up to my laptop for the life of it, and i'm debating on just returning the 2 controllers I bought for my $50 back.

If anyone knows of this issue happening on vista OS and knows how to fix it, your response is most welcome :)

What OS is your pc?

I'm running Vista, and in the process of upgrading it to SP2. I hope this fixes it :(

So both of your machines are running Vista OS, and yet you ask if the issue is Vista?

No I think the problem was related to my service pack, my desktop is updated. Now it's looking like some other stuff, so I posted in the malware/trojan section looking for help :( It's only the laptop with the issue. Thank you for the help all the same!

Did you read through the entirety of this thread before you posted in Malware removal? If not, you'll need to do so and follow the instructions listed there.
