Evil Sims 2 and Windows System 7?Sims 3 maybe?

Hi everybody.........I have been unable to get any help from anyone in the Sims community about this problem and calling Microsoft of EA is clearly a huge waste of time,so you guys are my last hope.
I just purchased a computer with Windows 7 on it.I am a Sims junkie so I decided to put the Sims 2 on it right away, thinking it would run like a champ on my new cool system.Nope.As soon as I installed the original game I got an error message telling me that the Sims 2 is incompatible with Windows 7.Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?I have read many posts on other forums from people who are running the Sims 2 with no problems on Windows 7.So why am I having a problem?I have no idea.
Here is what I have to work with:
Windows System 7
ATI Radeon HD 4350 graphics card with 512 MB of onboard memory
8G of system memory
This should really be enough, right?I can't send a DXDIAG report because I do not currently have the internet on my new computer(don't ask,I will just start weeping with frustration)On a side note, does anyone know if I can run the Sims 3 on this?

Hi and welcome to TSF

Have you tried running the installer for xp sp3 and as administrator?
You can do this by right clicking the setup in the cd and going to properties then compatibility tab.

I haven't tried that yet.............if I do,will I have to install all the expansions and packs the same way?
I am curious how these people who have 7 are able to run the game at all..............I love 7 but it is frustrating the hell out of me when some games(old ones) work great and other ones don't.

What version of 7 are you running? Pro home basic ultimate? I'll check for you, but yes you will need to apply the same settings for each expansions if it works with the first one.
