[SOLVED] Empire total war recommended RAM

Hi there, I ran the Empire total war demo (ETW), with all the settings on highest and had no problems playing at 1280*800 with my current system. My question is Should I upgrade to 4GB of RAM?, The only proble that I am having is that the game takes years to launch. My system specs are in my profile.
Thanks.

Re: Empire total war recommended RAM

Hi alejandro 2509,
I don't think upgrading RAM would make too much difference to the gameplay, one thing i would like to ask is the brand and wattage of your power supply as it's not in your system specs.
Thanks.

Re: Empire total war recommended RAM

That's not a bad PSU, so you're pretty good there.

Yes, RAM would help speed up the boot time for the game. The other two things would be processor frequency and hard drive speed.
You can try overclocking your CPU or buying a faster hard drive.

Some games really don't benefit at all from this stuff, and just do take a long time to load (see Doom 3 as an example)

Re: Empire total war recommended RAM

Thanks for your help, I will buy the game, and then if I have some money left, I might buy more RAM.

Have you had the chance to play the demo off of steam yet?

Re: [SOLVED] Empire total war recommended RAM

I played the demo and had no problems at all. My concern is that the game takes ages to launch, but I have no lag on max settings.

Re: [SOLVED] Empire total war recommended RAM

Don't worry about it, like I said some games are either poorly coded, or just have many files. Doom 3 takes a while to load on MY computer, same with Dawn of War.

Re: [SOLVED] Empire total war recommended RAM

I can live with that, I do not care how much the game takes to load, but if that was because of lack of RAM, I would certainly buy more. But since it runs fine on my computer, I will only get the game then. Also the game asks for a 4.8 in suggestes score onwindows evaluation score and my computer has 5.5.

Thanks for your advice, I won't expend my money on unecessary RAM now.
