CSS Heavy / Trailing Mouse

I have recently bought a new PC which is very nice, very happy with it. I also bought Windows Vista Home Premium 64 Bit ... I install CSS, and it runs ok. Accept that my mouse on it feels very heavy and very slow but the most wierd thing is that it "trails behind" ... It's a little hard to explain, but lets say I turn my mouse to the left and as soon as I stop the movement of the mouse, the mouse should stop moving, but it trails slowly behind and then comes to a stop as if it "de-accelerating" ... I never had this problem with XP, I am even using exactly the same config. I have tried putting the sensitivity up, but it still feels heavy and slow and still trails. I have done the mouse filter thing, to "smooth out movement" ... Both on and off and its very slightly better with that off, but its still terrible. This ONLY happens with CSS, it doesnt happen with any other games... Basically it is definatly CSS and not my mouse, it also doesnt happen on half life 2 or DoD or any other games. Does anybody have any idea for a solution for this problem ? Because I simply cannot play when it's like this, because it genuinly feels "wrong" ...

The specs of my PC if this helps are ... AMD Dragon Phenom X4 Quad 3.2 ghz ... 8GB DDR2 RAM 800 mhz ... 1TB Hard drive with a 32mb buffer and 7200 RPM ... ATI Radion 4870 1GB ... and OCZ cooling with my processor...

Thanks very much, Regards, Chris

have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game? I know it might be a hassle but it is most likely the easiest fix.

Re: CSS Heavy / Trailing Mouse

Hi and Welcome to TSF,
You could try playing around with a few of these console commands to see if they make a difference:

m_filter //Mouse filtering (set this to 1 to average the mouse over 2 frames)
m_forward //sets the mouse forward speed sensitivity multiplier
m_pitch //sets the mouse pitch (up and down motion) speed sensitivity multiplier - * negative numbers result in an inverted mouselook
m_side //sets the mouse strafing speed sensitivity multiplier
m_yaw //sets the yaw speed sensitivity multiplier
sensitivity //Adjusts the Mouse sensitivity
zoom_sensitivity_ratio //Additional mouse sensitivity scale factor applied when FOV is zoomed in

Re: CSS Heavy / Trailing Mouse

tried all the commands and it made it better. It actually made it playable. But it certianly has that "heavy" thing to it. It still feels very wrong. I did reinstall and that did nothing.. Any other suggestions ?
