Laptop Video Lag Issues

Ok, so i purchased a laptop from Best Buy with some top grade hardware. The problem i've been running into is that games with relatively low graphic intensity are seeming to lag my system visually. I've tried updating drivers and shutting off antivirus/unused processes to no avail. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Specs:

Intel Core 2 Duo @ 2.26 GHz
4 GB Ram
Vista Home 64-Bit
Nvidia Geforce 9800 GTS 1 GB VRAM
17" WXGA 1440 x 900 Widescreen Display

Re: Laptop Video Lag Issues

Hi Josh, welcome to TSF.

It's most likely a heating issue. Laptops tend to overheat quickly. Could you please download Everest and check your temperatures while idle and after about 15 minutes of playing.

Post the temperatures back here.

Re: Laptop Video Lag Issues

Temperatures:
CPU 89 °C (192 °F)
Hitachi HTS723232L9A360 49 °C (120 °F)

these are the temperatures the program reported. Sorry for the late response and thank you in advance for any advice.

Re: Laptop Video Lag Issues

Well Just like Lord Sirian thought, your laptop's CPU is around 40C too hot and your HDD is around 15C too hot too.

I would have like to know your graphics card temps too but I will recommend you buy a decent laptop cooler like this beastly one here.

Re: Laptop Video Lag Issues

You could try elevating the laptop a bit so there is more circulation on the button, but defiantly look into a fan. The one mcninjaguy recommened...that fun is huge! I'd say to clean the dust of this laptop, but you stated that it's new so I wouldn't imagine it being dusty.

Re: Laptop Video Lag Issues

I don't think you could find a better laptop cooler than the one I provided. A single 20cm fan is awesome at cooling. Not only that but it is very quiet as a laptop cooler with 3 80mm fans would need to be running at max to get to what that laptop cooler can do at low speed.

Re: Laptop Video Lag Issues

Probably, I wasn't disagreeing with you when I said huge I meant like WOW that thing could probably cool that thing down a lot. I should have mentioned that in my earlier post, my apologies.
