Re: Counter Strike Source Engine Error

Which versions of Windows are you running with?

I had issues with Vista 64 and Windows 7 64 that locked the game and required a cntrl+alt+del, then re-entering the game to unlock it. It was a display driver issue and it's common to Vista and SRCDS games.

I disabled Intel Speed step and spread spectrem for my CPU in my BIOS and it was good for 2 hours of gaming last night. There are other suggested fixes, but for me this one did the trick.

If you recently updated drivers, roll back to the versions that were working and try playing again.

Re: Counter Strike Source Engine Error

Have you made sure all your drivers are up to date?

Especially the video card drivers.

Re: Counter Strike Source Engine Error

Can you post your specs?

RAM
CPU
Motherboard
Graphics card
PSU (power supply unit)
HDD
OS (Windows XP 32 or 64 bit - which service pack?)

Please follow these steps too.

One point of advice is to never install your games in the default file directory. I always install them on something like this:

C:\Games\...

Programs has extra security which will only stop and hinder your gaming experience.
