Re: Toshiba Satellite L40-139 getting Hardware Acceleration error message!
Hello,
Click Start in the lower left corner of Windows Vista. Click Control Panel, click Appearance and Personalization, click Personalization, click Display Settings, and then click Advanced Settings. Click the Troubleshoot tab, and then click Change Settings. Note: Change Settings will be disabled if the graphics card drivers do not support disabling hardware acceleration.

Re: Toshiba Satellite L40-139 getting Hardware Acceleration error message!
No luck when doing this i get "The new settings could not be saved to registry"
I have gone onto my device manager and it appears there is a problem with my display dadapter but i have gone on the toshiba website and the satellite l40 isnt even listed. i eventually found it and installed new driver but the error message on device manager still shows the exclamation mark. Currently its: Mobile Intel(R) 945GM/GU Express Chipset Family Location: PCI Bus 0, device 2, function 0 "This device cannot find enough free recourses that it can use. (code 12)" |

These are the specs for your Computer
Toshiba Satellite L40 series What game are you trying play? Basically only games older than 2006 have a better chance of playing with a Intel graphics solution. |

Re: Toshiba Satellite L40-139 getting Hardware Acceleration error message!
Right i have been looking at this more and it appears that a MS update on 15th Oct 2007 installed a driver which has caused the problem.
I have unistalled the Intel(R) 945GM/GU Express Chipset Family display adapter and restarted my laptop. (I had to do this in Safe Mode only the Intel Chipset was showing in device manager) After doing this the VGA Basic Display Adapter is in the device manager with the age old exclamation mark under it. Basically i think that i need to uninstall all display adapter? Does anything need changing in the BIOS? Last edited by bedwelmj; 09-15-2009 at 06:53 AM. |

hi bedwelmj, I doubt that uninstalling drivers for your graphics chipset will help, could you please answer Mcninjaguy's question; What game are you trying to play?

Re: Toshiba Satellite L40-139 getting Hardware Acceleration error message!
I am just trying to play the Microsoft Games that come with Vista (basically what happens with the games is that they are very slow and pixelated, but if i try and play other none Vista games etc WoW it just doesnt happen), which worked fine before the patch. I also cant play video files/cd's on the laptop anymore.
