PC Not Running As Good As It Should

Hey, I have bought a pc a while ago and have been slowly adding parts to it.

It seems my pc is getting much lower FPS in games than other computers i have seen on youtube, They even get a much higher fps when there using FRAPS and im not even using FRAPS.

My Pc specs are

Windows vista 32bit
XFX ati radeon HD 4870 1GB (over clocked edition)
4GB Ram
Intel core quad core Q8200 2.33GHz
Corsair TX650w power suply

I have seen many videos on youtube of people playing games with the same graphics card and cpu as me but they get much better fps, Games like crysis, and gta 4.

What could be the problem?

Hi there SecondSight.

Have you taken a look at this thread? There is a lot of useful information there which is very helpful if you aren't getting the performance you feel that you should be getting.

What sort of FPS are you getting in Crysis and GTA4 and what settings are you playing those games on?

Re: PC Not Running As Good As It Should

Thanks lord sirian, I will definitely try these out, But Can you also help me with somthing else,

I think my pc isnt running to great because i have a virus but I have tried using avast and norton to remove it but it keeps popping back up so i want to completely format my drive so i can start from the day i bought the pc.

I have downloaded a windows vista 32 bit recovery disk from neosmart burnt the iso to a CD R, But i cant boot my pc from cd on start up... i have tried entering the bios selecting 1st boot drive as cd drive...also tried disabling hard drive but the cd drive just doesn't start and instantly goes and boots from hard drive. I know this forum is for gaming problems but.... it kinda relates :P Please help thanks

try tapping F8 or F12 when the comp boots up to manually tell the computer which device to boot into.

Hi again, formatting and re-installing isn't your only option, the guys over in the Security Centre are great at removing malware and fixing the problems that it causes.

If you decide to ask for help there, please make sure you thoroughly read this thread.

Let us know what you decide to do.
