Re: Warcraft III
ok so i made the bootable disk and let it run. i let it ran two times, one for each stick of ram and both times it came up with no errors. what do i do next with the ati tool?
also, would it be ok if i installed left4dead on another computer, and then switched my graphics card over to that computer and see if it gives me any errors? cause i have another computer at home, but it uses an 8600 gt, will that be alright for left4dead? One more thing. Assuming that my video card is defective and not working, would i be able to get another 9800 GTX+ and sli it to the defective one and still have it work? purely hypothetical Last edited by DarkxStrife; 09-24-2009 at 02:58 PM. |

I am not following your logic here...? You want to basically conjoin a perfectly healthy entity to its out-of-control, seizure-prone and possibly more than borderline mentally disabled brother and see if the result will be agreeable? I would simply have the current card RMA'D, or if this is NOT AN OPTION then the second card should not be joined into sli with the current one, but rather run on its own. Did I misunderstand? @Left-for-dead: Valve Updates Left 4 Dead Requirements [October 23, 2008] System Requirements * OS: Windows Vista, Vista 64, XP, * CPU: 3.0GHz P4, Dual Core 2.0 or AMD64X2 (or higher) * RAM: 1 GB for XP / 2 GB for Vista * Disc Drive: DVD-ROM Drive * Hard Drive: At least 7.5 GB of free space * Video: DirectX 9 compatible video card (Video card must be 128 MB or more and should be a DirectX 9 compatible with support for pixel shader 2.0) * Sound: DirectX 9.0c compatible sound card According to that and the NVIDIA references on the 8600GT, you should be fine. It is not a more current series of geforce but my friend runs eve-online @ full settings on her setup. The(/her) bottleneck is still the GPU (imho, arguably, regardless) but the complaints about un-playability aren't there. Also its capable of a bit of overclock if you think it will help [fast google ref: http://www.overclock.net/nvidia-driv...ng-8600gt.html ]. @ATI TOOL: I think it was suggested you run an artefact scan using the settings under which your problems arose. [Artifact scanning mode to test for stability.]

Re: Warcraft III
lol. That cleared it up perfectly. I will not be trying the SLI. And no you did not misunderstand that was exactly what i was going for.
I actually found out that my other computer did not have the 8600 gt, but in fact it uses an onboard mothercard. I was sitting here thinking it did have the 8600 pretty much the whole time ive had it, and checked just recently if it did or did not. And it doesnt, and unfortunately I might have trouble finding a friend whose video card i can borrow. And as for the ATI tool, do you mean run the artifact scan while im playing left4dead? Because once the problem comes up, i have to restart the computer. For a short while i can play while this problems on my screen, but after a while, when I do something "look around for zombies in left4dead" my computer crashes, the sound loops and i have to restart the computer. |

Re: Warcraft III
Ok update. Just now i got a bsod. When my computer restarted the microsoft error report showed up, i reported the problem and it sent me to another page. it said that the error was STOP 0x000000EA THREAD_STUCK_IN_DEVICE_DRIVER (http://wer.microsoft.com/responses/R...9-619e9d120030). Maybe this has to do with my video card problem?

@ GFX card issue. Run http://www.gtopala.com/. Go down to video adapter. Does it recognize it? If not, what DOES it say under that heading?

.1. Just go here: http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_191.07_whql.html 2. UNINSTALL ANY DRIVERS YOU CURRENTLY HAVE FOR THE CARD!!!! 2.5 Restart Computer. 2.x If you want to force having windows recognize it as new hardware, you can try disabling and enabling the device in hardware manager. This is not necessary. 3. Install these NEW DRIVERS. Should now work.

I'd just like to say, Horusque, that for this line:

Glad it seems to have been sorted out, let us know how L4D plays.
