halflife 2 episode 2 hangs in between

hi,
while playing the hl2 episode2, game hangs at certain point and crashes to desktop with the following message displayed :

SOURCE WARNING
"only one instance of the game can be running at one time"

pls help to sort out this problem

Hi pawanshinde. Welcome to the forums.

First you should try all these steps.

Also try verifying the game's cache by doing the following:

Go to the games properties in Steam and select the tab "Local Files", then press the button "Verify integrity of game cache".

Finally, what point does the game crash at? Is it one specific point or a general time period?
