please help very urgent thank you ! (half screen when playing cod4)

hi i am a noob sort of guy, i am posting for the first time and i need urgent help.

my problem is , whenever i load up call of duty 4 , it starts up with half screen black and the other side with cod 4. ihave tried some stuff like pressing alt + enter but did not help. if you would help me , i would be very pleased and will never forget you. :) thank you in advance .
my computer runs left 4 dead , fifa 07 , nfsmw, all fine but also sims 3 has the same problem as cod4 .

my computer specs:
acer x3200 vista home pre
nvidia geforce 8200 +
2gb ram
amd athlon 64 dual core processor 2.10 ghz
32 bit vista

Hey mithun95.

Try all these steps.

Make sure you update your Nvidia drivers and DirectX.

ohh i found out the problem , my cpu is too low lol and i bought this computer 2 days ago :(

I thought that may have been the case. The athlons were good a few years ago, but now with AM2 CPU's (not to mention the Core2Duo and Corei7s from Intel) older CPU's are really not much good any more.

Left 4 Dead probably plays because it runs on Source and Source is a fairly old engine.

You'll have to upgrade to play any of the newer games.

Are you interested in upgrading or are you happy with the games you can play?

but sorry to bother you but my laptop has eally low specs but that runs cod4 smoothly somehow.
specs:
thosiba l300
1.9ghz
1gb ram
vista home basic
no grapihs card

i am just amazed?

Sorry to hear you can't upgrade just yet, if down the track, you have saved up some money and want to get a good computer at a decent price, you can get some really good advice on it in this section of the forums.

Now, about that laptop, what's the exact model of your CPU on it and what integrated graphics chipset does it have?
