Re: Please help! Eurgant!

First thing you shouldn't of done is directly copied that particular boot file.
This section in particular [default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS] This states that his windows is located on HDD 0 on Partition 2. If yours is a standard boot layout it would of been on partition 0 and not 2.

To fix this without formatting you will need to pop-in your XP installation CD.
1) When your PC asks to boot from disk press anykey to accept.
2) Wait for the setup section to complete (IE blue screen that setups XP)
3) Now you need to be careful here, Select the location of where XP is installed. The setup should detect that XP is already installed on your HDD and will highlight it. Now down the bottom of the screen should be a legend. If it says R - Repair or R - Recovery Console then you need to press R.

4) It may take a while but your screen will go black (looks like DOS), It will then ask you to select what windows you wan to repair. There should only be one so you press 1 then Enter.
If you have a administrator password it will prompt you to type it in. If you dont have one leave it blank and press Enter.

Now type the following FIXBOOT (will warn you about what you are doing) press Y followed by Enter. This will only take a second.

Now once it has successfully written a new boot file type in EXIT and your PC will restart. Take out the CD and Windows should boot normally.

*Note if it doesn't boot follow the same steps but type in FIXMBR press Y followed by Enter.

Also im recalling this all from memory so if it says something like does not recognize command it could be BOOTFIX. If that still doesn't work type HELP and it will give you a list of commands.
