Half-Life 2 Loading Issues
Been having paged pool issues with Half-Life 2 for a while. I thought I had finally figured out. I used this solution here I got using the forums on here (Thanks for the help btw :) ):
Click start, control panel, system, advanced, performance, advanced and under virtual memory click change, then custom size, and set the vRam to whatever value you like (I would recommend equal to the installed Ram as a start) min and max. Click set and ok your way out. You can always go back and set things to letting Window decide. using this strategy, I increased the max memory by about 600 mb. Then I loaded it up and now it works flawlessly whenever I start a new game. But whenever I try to load a save game, it freezes halfway through the loading screen. The bars get halfway but then it freezes and I have to restart my computer manually. Any ideas? Here are my system specs just in case: CPU Genuine Intel(R) CPU T2300 @ 1.66GHz (running @1662MHz) NVIDIA GeForce Go 7400 1024MB 15.27GB Free Space Microsoft Windows XP According to a couple of friends and teachers, it should work just fine. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Re: Half-Life 2 Loading Issues
Your Nvidia 7400 probably only has 256mb of vram. I had a 7600 GT and it only had 256mb of vram.
Vram is the video card ram and is not the actual DDR2 ram on your computer. This ram is on your video car and you are trying to overload it. You aren't even dealing with your DDR2 ram or the ram on your video in this instance. Virtual Ram is like taking space away from your HDD and using that. Its much slower than your DDR2 ram. If you want more performance I would suggest getting more ram for your computer. Could you tell me the make and model of the laptop you have? Another thing that is slowing it down is all the space taken up. You should have at the very least 15% free space on your HDD. I wouldn't have less than 25% free space. If you want some more free space you can do this to limit the size of your system restore. start menu type CMD right click on the icon and run as administrator and type this quote Quote:
