counter strike source error

I'm getting this error with counter strike source, on steam, right so i play counter strike source for about 10 mins, then all of a sudden it freezes then comes back but the screen is all white and everything is all wierd and uncolourfull, if anyone could plz help me that would be great thnx

Motherboard
CPU
RAM
Graphics Card
PSU(Power Supply Unit)(To check it, open computer case and write down Brand, model, and watts)

Also click on "Steps before Posting" link in my signature.
Follow those steps and see if that resolves your issue.

hello, i seem to be getting an error from counter strike source that i bought on steam. i have been able to play for a bit today but im not sure how long it will last, when the error does occur the screen freezes then comes back but basically the screen goes all funny. my pc specs are . amd anthlon. 230v PS
3gb ramm. 8600gt graphics card. OP windows xp proffesional. i have tried to update my graphics driver's once before but once i did i restarted my computer and i had to boot in safe mode to reset the drivers back to there original state. so if anyone could tell me how to upgrade my graphics drivers without it messing up that would be great thanks.

In addition to what Cdx suggested, try this:

Go to the games properties in Steam and select the tab "Local Files", then press the button "Verify integrity of game cache".
This will scan for errors and missing files and will download them from a Source update server.

In addition to Lord Sirian's suggestion,

It seems like your power supply doesn't meet the requirements for your graphic card.

You would need more of a 450w+ psu to handle the 8600 gt.

I suggest buying a new psu before any of your pc components become damaged.

Also, to update your drivers, click on the Nvidia drivers link in my signature, and search for your graphic card(8600 gt) and download the new ones.

hello, i have tried what lord sirian has suggested, but yet it had failed, the scan completed sucsessfully without fail or error i have ran counter strike again today it seemed to be a bit better texture quility wise, but it is still happening, im not sure it was a bit better becouse of the map i was on, but i am not sure what is happening im using windows xp proffesional and i have tried to update my drivers but xp doesent want to exept them, i think it might be becouse of my motherbaord but i will have to get someone that i know to have a look becouse i dont know really alot in that deparment but if anyone has any other suggestiopns it will be greatly obliged thankyou.

Also, sorry, just to clear it up, what was the exact wattage, make and model of your PSU?

i cannot update my drivers becouse it wont except them, someone reset my computer for me and put xp proffesional back onjust like i wanted. i might just buy a new graphics card but i still wana try get the driver working for my xp but im not sure if i allready have the latest version which i dont for my graphics card but i cant do anything with drivers.

it will except them but my screen will not return and i have to reset the drivers.

You have to uninstall the old drivers before you install the new ones. Are you doing that?

well, i have installed a few drivers set them back to an original date basically rolling them back. but no im not unistalling driver i have. maby ill give that ago :)
