[SOLVED] Choppy Gameplay on decent rig. Help Wanted.

Im not quite sure where I should post my issue, also the title is just part of the issue just didn't quite know how to put it.

First I would just like to post the issues that have been occuring and then will post dxdiag and ect after asked if anyone wants to follow-up.

General: Some internet streaming programs other then youtube seem to chop up a bit even though sound does not chop at all.

Games: Warhammer Online, I have not been able to enjoy the game at all due to the terribble chop and fps drops in combat (and yes I know this is regular for this game but its unbareable) Also if you chance resolution to no more then **** the chop and fps issues remian. COD4, this game used to run maxed no problem but recently Ive been having some chop, the biggest issue is at the begining of each match I will have 1-2 minutes of no-stop lag and chops. This issue is recent, as I said no problems running the game maxed before. TF2, game also used to run maxed no sweat now when I run into greater pop servers lag and bigger battles lag is hindering my own preformance.

I do have Intel(R) Pentium(R) D CPU 2.80GHz (2 CPUs),3 gigs of ram, and 8800GTX but will post my full info and dxdiag upon request beacuse many forum sites frown upon clogging threads without request.

The only solutions that I have gathered so far are a new proccesor, but very worried that after the upgrade the problems will occur. Someone told me it could be a simple sound fix but did not know how to do it.

I thank anyone for even looking at this thread, and will post dxdiag and any information needed on request.

Hi and welcome to TSF,
What is the brand and wattage of your power supply?

Re: Choppy Gameplay on decent rig. Help Wanted.

hello
first of all I'm surprised here
you are running a Geforce 8800 GTX on a Pentium D!!
you need at least a Dual Core 3 Ghz or a Core 2 Duo for that card

download SIW from my sig and open it
choose "sensors" under "Hardware" and check the PC temps (CPU, GPU, HDD, system)
play a game for 15 mins then minimize it and recheck the temps again.

also as floop said please post your power supply brand, Wattage, and Amps under +12V

Re: Choppy Gameplay on decent rig. Help Wanted.

thank you for looking into my issue :)

nspire x-extreme 750w ATX powersupply

once again if full dxdiag is need just let me know.
I am making arangements to order new powersupply, but the recent issues like CoD4 lag spikes that just recently started occuring, as well as the bad streaming might not be due to processor upgrade.

thanks again

Well, as Rockmaster has said, your Pentium D CPU is not a good proccessor to be running games on. This is the most likely cause of your lag issues, so all i can suggest is that you upgrade your CPU.

Re: Choppy Gameplay on decent rig. Help Wanted.

As people have said before, your CPU is probably bottlenecking your graphics card.

Make sure you get your temps for us as RockmasteR said.

Re: Choppy Gameplay on decent rig. Help Wanted.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819115036
This is the CPU I was planning to order so input would be nice.

Temps Before Gaming
THRM 40 C 40 C 40 C
GPU 62 C 61 C 62 C
HDD 34 C 34 C 34 C

15 Min During Gaming
THRM 40 c 40 c 40c
GPU 67 C 62 c 74 c
HDD3 34 C 34 C 35 C

once Again thanks you all for the input and help.

Another note toward the CoD4 Pre Round lag spikes, I belive it started after installation of AA3.

Was also thinking after new CPU arrives just reformat my rig...

Wow that GPU temp is quite high (74 c).
You should look into buying extra fans to place inside your PC to keep your graphics card cool.
