gaming laptop on a budget, possible???
hello. first of all i am sorry if this is not the correct area to post this, it is the most fitting category i can find. anyway i am helping my less technological friend of mine with some gaming issues. he is about to head off to college and needs a laptop for school and wants that to be able to run a good amount of games. his budget is 500-600 dollars for the laptop and i have not been able to find many options for him as most laptops of that range i have looked at are running on integrated motherboard graphics. he has a much older desktop with some minor gaming capabilities (nvidia 6600 is what it currently has and is the best it can handle i believe) so im not sure what to tell him. i was thinking he could get a laptop that could run some MMOs we play like eve and everquest 2 and then trick out his desktop into the main gaming rig or get a new desktop since he would have to entirely overhaul the thing. so basically i need opinions on laptops in our price range with gaming capabilities and preferably an option to get XP instead of vista, what to do with this desktop(slowly make it into a gaming rig or scrap it and buy a cyberpower or something) and also if laptop video cards can be bought like desktop ones and installed into a laptop.
thanks for reading and if you can help thanks as well!! |

Re: gaming laptop on a budget, possible???
hello hammer326
first of all a gaming laptop in that price range is impossible with a 600$ he can build a Gaming PC (Tower) but not buy a laptop there is an Asus gaming laptop but the price is higher than 600$ it's for 730 to 800$ and its price is very good as it have a geforce 9800GS that'll do good in new games, like Crysis, Far Cry 2, Prototype, GTA IV.... here is the link: http://computershopper.com/laptops/r.../asus-g50vt-x1 for a price of 580$ you get an MSI laptop (I don't know if I can trust MSI for a Laptop) it has a 9300 GS that can run all games on low settings (like Crysis on low and low resolution) and you can check these lists from newegg.com (all laptop are in the price range from 500 to 750$) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...0%20-%20%24750 hope that will help you
