Tf2/Gmod Problems
Here's my problem:
I just recently downloaded Steam for my laptop. Two nights ago, I bought the Team Fortress 2/Garry's Mod pack for $25. I pulled up Team Fortress 2, and attempted to download a server. As it was downloading, my laptop froze, and I was forced to restart it. After a few more tries, I got the Blue Screen of Death while downloading a server. This then happened one more time after that. When I tried for the last time, I actually made it into the game. The only problem was, that everything was extremely choppy, and the sounds from the game were playing like a broken record. When I selected my class and I took control of the character, as soon as I was in first-person, the BSOD popped up again. The same happpens with Garry's Mod, except it doesn't even get past the game loading screen. Is there anything I can do to help the games work better on my laptop? Hello Leviathan1122, and welcome to TSF.
Please click on the "Steps before Posting" link in my signature, the font is black. Follow those steps and see if it resolves your issue. Also please post your system specs(CPU, RAM, Graphics Card, Motherboard, Power Supply) To check your power supply, turn off your computer, unplug the power cord, take off your computer case(on the side of your computer normally), and write down the brand, model, and watts of your Power supply. Thank you.

it is a laptop so it could be a heating issue
download SIW from my sig under "hardware" choose sensors and check the temps (CPU, GPU, system, HDD) now play the game for about 10 to 15 mins and recheck the temps again (minimize the game) please post the two temps state back here

You have a Intel integrated graphics card, which I am sorry to say is the worst possble graphics solution to be playing games on. Since this a a Dell Vostro laptop you will never get acceptable frame rates until you either get a decent laptop that can play games or a nice desktop. I am sorry to be the bearer of the bad new but that is the truth.
One more thing I have to say is that you should stay away from Dell as their computers are always overpriced, underpowered, over exaggerated and just generally usually fall short of expectations very quickly. |
